The alarmist case depends on selective viewing and memory: ignore the record, ignore the rebounds, ignore the mean, then scream “collapse!” at the next downward wiggle.

There’s no doubt that global average sea surface temperature have risen by 0.5-1C over the last 50 or so years, no doubt due to natural factors. This could make comparing this year’s El Nino with earlier large ones more complicated than simply comparing sea surface temperatures. This year’s El Nino presumably involved less warming than a similar strength one years ago e.g. the 1982-3 event. It’s not at all obvious to me why strong ENSO events can affect regional climate but at a guess I’d say it’s due to the temperature difference/gradient between different regions affecting the average position of quasi-permanent areas of high pressure such as the Azores high and a similar high in the Eastern Pacific. If this temperature difference/gradient is less this year than in previous large El Nino’s as other parts of the Pacific are warmer than they used to be does this mean this years El Nino is likely to have less effect?
A 69% chance of a very strong El Nino means there is a 31% chance that it will be a quite ordinary event. At once it doesn’t sound so impressive anymore.
I wonder if the 👺 La Nina is related to the 👺👺👺 to be found under certain people’s beds?

Before people came to this land around 1300 the birds had no predator other than other birds, hence flightless bird species.

What I already think I understand a little.
Gravity and the effect planets and the sun have on each other.
Water divination. The frequencies between the water mass and the diviner have a matching frequency or the diviner can receive the water’s energy frequency.
Identical twins on the opposing sides of a planet know when one is hurt, etc. Identical frequencies of energy (electromagnetic or other?) allows emitting and receiving.

I begin to understand how farmers wives could have put a pack of kittens in a burlap sack and thrown them in the river. I can’t do it, but I understand it. They are all ticking time bombs. The mother and the two older kittens must be fixed before they decide to multiply -again- and the five newborns will outgrow the cat carrier I have them in, and then what? Pray, I beg you!
