I am preparing for the cold era we are entering. Remodeled key windows in my home to improve the insulation. Have a new much more efficient furnace. My fruit orchard is struggling though. Lost three young trees and my cherry crop due to a late freeze this Spring. Apples and pears are doing fine because they bloomed later.
Damage to early blooming fruit trees are an early sign of losses caused by a cooling period. Fruits & vegetables are food stocks. Lose a significant amount and the effects ripple. The nutrition they provide must be replaced by more distant, more expensive shipments or substituted from other foods. If the fruit and vegetable losses are substantial and recurring, they can begin or add to a general food shortage, where costs increase and human health suffers.
And you get to stay up all night feeding the woodstove and all day chopping wood.

The NIST IR/Co2 spectrum shows absorption peaks at 2.2, 4.3, and 15 microns. According to the Wien formula for wavelength vs temperature, these peaks correspond to temperatures of 800, 430, and -80 degrees C respectively.
Normal Earth’s temperature is about 9.8 microns which shows no or very little absorption of IR by CO2. There must be some magic formula for CO2 absorption of IR that is not on this spectral chart that I am sadly unaware of.
I was considered a “bad teacher” at my first job because I went against the climate change narrative. Oh well.
