However I see Milliband apparently is talking about floating solar panel farms on lakes and resevoirs and we’ve a proposal for a wind farm off the Western Isles with towers taller than the Eifel Tower – total madness.

No one ever seems to mention that water vapor is responsible for over 90% of the Earth’s “greenhouse effect”. Water vapor absorption bands are many and overlap about 3/4 of the CO2 absorption band at 15um.Water vapor is typically 20->40 times more abundant and therefore renders CO2 to an insignificant role in greenhouse temperature effect. So, why is water vapor ignored…??

I can agree, Bucky, no one in the climate cabal, to include most of popular media, will mention water vapor’s greenhouse prowess.
Real scientists, this forum and others like it do point to water vapor and not CO2 as the main greenhouse driver. Even going so far as to note CO2’s limited wavelengths for heat absorption and how at current levels, CO2 is already largely maxxed out in the atmosphere, as far as heat trapping goes.
OR the fact that the Sun is our HEATER!

As I told my chemistry colleagues years ago when they were harping on “human driven climate change”, the climate has been changing for millennia. That shut them up.
To recap: as the world warmed out of the Little Ice Age, oceans, soils, vegetation, and respiration shifted with it.
If I have it right, our current 100 years or so of warmth is referred to as the ‘modern warm period.’ And it appears to be ending, as they all do.
Per Cap’s information, if cooling does come, comparable to a depth of a Maunder level, CO2 will drop. Less CO2 coupled with shorter growing seasons and inclement soil conditions will cut, perhaps drastically, earth’s food production.
Reduced nutrition and cooler temperatures in an era of likely less general wealth and even ‘food wars,’ many millions will likely die for lack of food and increased disease.
Modern technology can be an advantage over past cold periods – but only if politicians and rich people of good will get their act together and govern with the human good as their first priority.
In an internet age where the only thing that matters is the next election, I don’t see that happening. They’ll be too busy pointing fingers and assigning blame.

Hi Jay, Bucky, and anyone else who hasn’t yet got the memo; CO2 has nothing whatsoever to do with any effective influence on the Earth’s climate! Write this down and memorize it, please. What is happening is a slowly, to us, progression towards the next Solar Minimum. When we get there in 2030, 3.5 years from now, looking at the Latest Sunspot Number graphic to the right, the TSI will be at a minimum, and it will take a year or two or less, to have the maximum decrease of solar energy work its way through the atmosphere’s and the earth’s mostly not understood ecosystems. Please look up Prof. Zharkova’s predictions for what happens next. She predicts that the Sun will essentially hibernate for 50 years. That will encompass two and a half generations of humans, 20 years per generation. Give that some thought. Why the fervor for data centers and quantum computers, and AI, when it will be wall to wall snow and ice down to Northern California?
For the question of why there is no reference to water vapour’s greenhouse effect, go to UK PM Margaret Thatcher, who needed to quash the unions and came up with the novel notion that coal caused a lot of pollution, (killer fogs), notably CO2, and that started the war against CO2, which killed the UK coal unions. Look it up. The United Nations has since taken up the cudgel and is using the Great Reset and other World Economic Forum’s narratives to try and kill the fossil fuel industry and nuclear energy. This is all in the cause of trying to cause international distress and finally have the People cry out for salvation. This is the point at which the UN will arrive with its rescue plan. It will entail, of course, the complete control of everything by the UN. Who will be the enforcers? Think about it. All UN members have already ceded control of most of their sovereignty to the UN, so it will not be that big a sell. This is the same organization that gave us COVID 19 and the support of HAMAS. The UN is the big supporter of the Global Warming nonsense and our governments mindlessly follow the UN orders.
Please look up what happened during the Maunder Minimum. Also, look up Prof. Valentina Zharkova’s double Dynamo Theory and how it was accepted.
I will stand ready to talk with anyone remotely concerned about what will happen in the next 10 years. Nobody is talking about this publicly yet. Cap, maybe you can tell us again why you moved to Portugal. I agree with your motivation 100%. Too bad you couldn’t move another degree south.

I moved out of a condo 6 years ago. Over a 14-year period, maintenance fees rose from about $137 to $260 or so. One thing that bumped them up was the condo on-site manager stole $40,000 and the fund had to be replenished. Last I heard, Wanda had not been caught.
One thing about Co-Op City that’s worth mentioning is it has its own power plant that NY will shut down and Con Ed doesn’t have the capacity to pick up the load. They need an SMR, like the Air Force is deploying on three bases.
