The public is handed a decimal-point global temperature figure and told it represents the planet. But underneath it sits a changing thermometer network increasingly drawn from warmer physical settings.
The IPCC has quietly removed ~3C of projected warming — the difference between the full catastrophe script and a manageable, arguably prosperous, future.
Last year this time, Northern Russia was setting the pace for snow & cold. I guess it’s that way every year there. Alaska & Canada got involved early, too.

Currently at west Oahu (Ewa Beach). There is a commercial WEISS thermometer in the soil of a patio planter and it reads over 115F, EVERY August for the past 5-7 years. Currently, it is 1 pm HST and it reads 87F. I like the coolong trend we will be experiencing.
Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency issued a tsunami warning and urged residents to stay away from beaches and riverbanks.
The epicenter was 68 kms (42 miles) north-northwest of the city of Ende in East Nusa Tenggara province.

Schleswig-Holstein finally cancel their 3.3-million-Euro zero emissions ferry-of-the-future project because their retarded solar-powered vessel still doesn’t work Aug 14, 2026 https://www.eugyppius.com/p/schleswig-holstein-finally-cancel
These silly people wanted to replace the “Missunde II, an ordinary diesel ferry with the hypermodern, super-clever, very progressive Missunde III, which runs entirely on solar power and also looks like a poorly assembled Ikea coffee table.”
“With no solution in sight and the locals up in arms, the Office for Coastal Protection before long went limping back to the buyer of the decommissioned Missunde II, who agreed to sell the old ferry he had bought for 17,000 Euros back to them for 100,000 Euros…and a full 6.5 million Euros later, authorities have finally given up. The Missunde III will be retired as soon as the old diesel-powered Missunde II can be made inlet-worthy again.”
“Developers are plotting a nearly 93,000-square-foot indoor rainforest with free-flying birds, sloths, snakes and exotic plants — smack in the middle of Arizona’s scorching Sonoran Desert.”
“Dubbed Paradise Earth, the four-story attraction is planned for 10.5 acres of Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community land near Scottsdale and is being billed by its creators as the largest indoor rainforest in North America.”
…”Arizona Boardwalk officials said the postponed vote extended the project’s timeline but did not change their commitment to building it.
“Even if the conditional-use permit is eventually approved, Paradise Earth must still undergo design review and secure a construction permit. No groundbreaking or opening date has been announced.”
—A rainforest in the scorching Arizona desert. What could go wrong…?
It would be prudent if this rainforest contained an aquarium inhabited by diverse oceanic representation.
Therein would reside an octopus named Quantum Entanglement, (Quantum) and Deb would be a proxy for Diver Dan.
Anyway, I’m too busy right now hand feeding five newborn kittens, and taking care of two partly feral older kittens, and a sick mother cat, all in my 8’x12′ cabin, and a brother with a dementia who lives 20 miles away. After this, I’m going to take up juggling. It has to be easier. Or maybe I’ll just go live with Quantum the Octopus. I’ll bet he’s a whiz at juggling! 🐙
Had to look up Diver Dan. I was too old to watch him myself and just starting to have kids when he went off the air. Found this episode on YouTube, but (spoiler alert) they cut off a couple of the octopus’ arms. I don’t think such abuse of animals would be permitted on TV today.🐙
The evapotranspiration and other sources of humidity condenses on the walls and ceiling where gravity feeds it back to have an endless water and carbon cycle.
When the pet coccolithophores die off they sink to the bottom and form pools of methane hydrates which eventually are put under pressure and heated by being trapped between tectonic plates to produce oil, sustainable energy for a small tribe.
Tectonic plates are unheard of in an aquarium as are cigarette smoking fish. Oh, well.
But I’m sure Mermaids serenading Divers have been heard of. https://youtu.be/Z0uUtdzy32s?is=p8XGguNGc0CnrnHv and I’m sure Quantum the Octopus still has all his arms. That was some other octopus.

Today is Monday, August 17. Refreshing the EV tab does not return today’s Monday edition.

Let’s get this thing fixed! Today, Monday’s edition wasn’t there for hours. When it dropped, my EV ID was not recognized as per normal. Asked to enter username and password, I did so. Both entries are correct but Patreon says password is incorrect.

Inside the plan to grow a huge rainforest in the Arizona desert

The Diver Dan proxy would keep pet coccolithophores in the aquarium.
Pet coccolithophores? Now you’re just getting silly. (It’s been known to happen.) 😄

It was fortunate that Sam the Sawfish cut off two arms of Quantum Entanglement.
“…largest indoor rainforest in North America.”
Are there others? And what about the water shortage?

Maybe we’ll eventually have the White Cliffs of Arizona. Then I could go see them without crossing any oceans. 🚌
Those calcium carbonates can accrue but the blighters can lock up too much CO2 to put life on earth at risk.

the white cliffs of Arizona,
Tomorrow just you wait and see.”
