Recent long summer heat in Australia is unusual, but all weather has been like that for hundreds of years. Its so unusual that the millions of dollars of computers cannot use earlier data as it would be “too costly” to input! The climate pattern is just “unusual” and refuses to be properly pigeon holed. “AI” report on this: “The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) faced criticism in The Weekly Times after revealing it relies on just the past 37 years of weather records to predict rainfall, citing that running predictive models with older or larger historical datasets is “computationally very expensive”.
